BBC News – London 2012: Quarter of a million Olympics tickets unsold.

Although the London 2012 Olympics were undoubtedly a success, it seems odd that several thousand tickets remained unsold.

I can understand that most of these were Olympic football, which questionably shouldn’t even be an Olympic sport (perhaps the ticket sales tell you that?)

What baffles me is why there were 2407 athletics stadium tickets, 1047 swimming tickets and thousands of day passes?

Again I can understand the day passes being unsold as they seemed rather expensive, just to sample the atmosphere but the stadium and swimming doesn’t make any sense.

And to cap it all, it seems that Opening and Closing Ceremony tickets also remained unsold! Something seriously wrong there in my opinion.

I can only hope that the seats were occupied by some of the Olympic helpers or soldiers that made the event such a successful and safe event.
